The Neka Museum is famous for its large collection of paintings and other works of art. The name of this museum is taken from the name of an art lover teacher, Suteja Neka. In 1982 the opening of the Neka museum was filled with his various collections of paintings and art objects. Apart from exhibiting various collections of paintings, the Neka Ubud Museum also holds a collection of keris and statues from various regions in the archipelago.

 

Historical Things at The Neka Ubud Museum

There are lots of paintings by famous painters, such as paintings by painting maestro Affandi, a legendary Indonesian painter. Affandi's expressionist painting style always amazes his fans. Affandi's paintings in the Neka Museum are the 1973 Barong & Rangda Dance measuring 100 x 185 cm and the 1975 fishing boat painting measuring 103 x 129 cm.

The painting entitled Dancer is also on display at the Neka Museum. This painting, which was created in 1990, measuring 143 x 295 cm, is the work of painter Bagong Kussudiardjo. Not only a painter, Bagong Kussudiardjo is also a famous choreographer in Indonesia. He always displays creative ideas in each of his paintings.

Various keris collections are also displayed in this museum. This keris collection comes from various regions in Indonesia. There are also keris which originate from the Balinese kingdom era so they have historical value and bring good luck. One of them is the Ki Clothes Chain Keris which comes from Puri Karangasem. There is also the Ki Gajah Petak keris which comes from Puri Kanginan Singaraja on the north coast of Bali.
